Halloween candy will be replaced by lipsmacking barbecue when Ribfest returns to Zoo Miami, Oct. 31-Nov. 2, for three days of award-winning barbecue and entertainment the whole family can enjoy at this outdoor festival and cookoff.

Celebrate Halloween night at Ribfest with free admission from 6 to 11 p.m., and enjoy a free side with the purchase of a half-rack or rack of ribs from national ribbers who will be competing throughout the weekend to win “best of” in five categories, including best ribs, pork, beef brisket, chicken, and sauce. Patrons of Zoo Miami’s Spooky Zoo Nights can enjoy admittance into Ribfest where they can end their Halloween night delighting in great food and entertainment by DJ Leo from GubesVibe.

The fun continues all day Saturday and Sunday, where in addition to great barbecue, patrons will enjoy all-day live rock and country music concerts by popular local bands including Jimi Fiano and The Mode Runners, Mojo Scoundrels, Piro Band, The Click, Blackstar, Jade Sanders, The Mangrove Root Band, Payback, and the Rodeo Clowns.

There will be beer-inspired cooking demonstrations and pairings beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday, or purchase homegrown Florida produce or exotic fruits and vegetables at the farmers market.

Animal Services’ mobile pet adoption unit HOPE Express will be at Ribfest showcasing many adorable animals available for adoption on site. Patrons also will enjoy arts and crafts vendors, themed photo opportunities, and much more.

A blind taste test by a panel of celebrity judges will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. to select the winners for each of the five categories. Winners will be announced on Sunday at 4 p.m. by Kiss Country radio personality Darlene Evans.

Purchase Zoo Miami/Ribfest combo tickets to enjoy a wild day at the zoo, or enjoy Ribfest as a VIP with VIP tickets that include general admission; a VIP meal (rack of ribs with two sides); six beers from an expanded craft/seasonal beer selection to include Blue Moon, Blue Moon Seasonal, Crispin, and Leinenkugel Shandy; access to shaded lounge area; and comfort station restrooms.
