St. Brendan High recognizes student-athletes at banquet

Four hundred student-athletes were recognized at the St. Brendan High School sports banquet on Apr. 30. The evening began with a motivational speech by retired Major League Baseball player Placido Polanco, who played second and third base for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Tigers, and Miami Marlins.

The evening concluded by honoring St. Brendan’s male and female athletes and coach of the year.

THE RECIPIENTS ARE:
• Male Athlete of the Year — Zuhayr Pigot, state champion swimmer, 50 freestyle;
• Female Athlete of the Year — Katerina Alvarez, cross country, girls soccer, and track and field, and
• Coach of the Year — Arlenee Suarez, cheerleading.
