30th Annual Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run , April 23

For three decades, hundreds of thousands of South Florida businesses and employees have committed to taking strides to improve their overall health and company camaraderie through the Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run Series.

As TeamFootWorks, producers of the highly anticipated tri-county run series, prepares to celebrate the Miami race’s 30th anniversary, they are announcing the 2015 5K Run/Walk race date and a new presenting sponsor, Verizon Wireless.

“It is hard to believe that we’re celebrating the 30th anniversary for the Miami run,” said Laurie Huseby, race director, Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run. “Whether the race series is an individual’s first step toward fitness or an office tradition, the Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run is about having fun, getting healthy and boosting company morale, a practice we’ve been committed to for three decades.

“With a greater focus on health and wellness, we’ve seen a steady increase in registration for the run series over the years and are looking forward to another record breaking year in 2015,” she added.

The Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run Miami race takes place on Thursday, Apr. 23, 6:45 p.m., at Bayfront Park, 301 N Biscayne Blvd. in Downtown Miami. Registration deadline is Mar. 26.

The Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run Series attracts more than 1,200 South Florida companies and incorporates a special competition to award the overall men’s, women’s and co-ed teams in 20 different industries. The run is open to employees of businesses, corporations, government agencies, financial institutions and non-profits — regardless of company size. Known as “Florida’s Largest Office Party,” everyone is encouraged to participate and join their company team to walk or run as a group.

Beginners can “ease into exercise” with friends, gain inspiration and motivation to continue walking and running to improve overall health, while competitive runners have the opportunity to shine amongst their co-workers and lead the corporate team to victory.

Often this is the first step towards greater health and wellness amongst South Florida employees and their companies.

“We could not produce this run if it weren’t for our dedicated sponsors, including Mercedes-Benz, which is celebrating its 10th year as title sponsor, and Verizon Wireless, our new presenting sponsor,” Huseby said.

“It takes a great effort to get more than 33,000 participants across the finish line, and we’re thankful for these companies’ constant support,” she added.

“Giving back to the communities we service has always been a large part of our company culture,” said Jay Lockhart, associate director of marketing at Verizon Wireless. “Verizon Wireless is thrilled to be part of this annual tradition that brings so many South Florida businesses together — a connection we strive to make happen every day.”
Registration is $40 per team member.
