Families with kids, car enthusiasts and music lovers will want to check out the Autoverks ClassicCarShowcoming up Saturday, Nov. 21, 6 – 10 p.m., at 8700 SM 133 St.Held the third Saturday of each month, admission is free to this fun-filled evening whose proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of Coral Gables veterans programs.

The band, “Zero Defect,” is returning to everyone’s delight with music that is sure to make you want to dance as, is the fire truck that kids and adults love to check out while trying their hand at using the hose. Of course, great classic cars are impressive and the grill is on for those who want to enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs and other snacks. Now that the weather is cooler, we should all take advantage of these great outdoor events.

In other happenings, there will be another game in town for all you chili connoisseurs. Chili chefs will want to save this date, Feb. 21, 2016, for Coral Gables Rotary’s first ever Chili Cook-Off at Fred B. Hartnett Ponce Circle Park. Word has it that Westin Colonnade’s General Manager Matt Lahiff has a mean white-bean chili he may want to feature.

Club President Greg Martini, whose wife artist Nancy Martini, designed the artwork for the event, promises this will become a signature annual event for the club. Fred Baddour, Club Fundraising Chair and Martini are working on the details with a committed group of members including Sally Baumgartner, Yoli Woodbridge, Don Trombly, Bruce Kerestes, Steven Spann, Bill Quesenberry, Bill Martinez and others to make this event a success, looking for sponsors, cooks and volunteers.

More on this in upcoming issues as entertainment is booked, sponsors are announced and activities are added.

Celebrate the holidays by shopping for a cause at the Coral Gables Woman’s Club on Dec. 3, 2015, noon to 8 p.m. Join the fun at a Holiday Boutique being orchestrated by club member Susie Tilson to benefit the GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club Children’s Dental Clinic. This beautiful historic clubhouse which also houses the club’s children’s dental clinic is located at 1001 East Ponce de Leon Blvd. in Coral Gables.

Vendors spaces are affordably priced but going fast. This promises to be a great place to find unique gifts and yummy treats. Tickets are $3 in advance or $5 at the door. For more information or tickets, contact Susie at belletil@bellsouth.net.

A graduate of the University of Florida with a major in Spanish, Burns has an extensive background in advertising, marketing and reciprocal trade, travel , non profit consulting and management. In other volunteer activity, Gloria helps Miami Christian School with fund-raising and PR; is an Ambassador and volunteers for events for A Safe Haven for Newborns. She is an active member of the Music Ministry at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she enjoys singing in the choir every weekend.
