Founded in 1996 by Ali Mejia and Mariela Rovito, the Eberjey brand is a collection of luxury products designed to be beautiful, flattering and a comfort to wear. Carried by upscale department stores and boutiques in the U.S. and around the world, Eberjey’s lingerie is designed to, as the company states, “Express happiness, love and confidence in all things that make a woman truly beautiful.”
Ali Mejia is the company’s designer and Mariela Rovito, its president. Both women have strong marketing backgrounds. Ali’s mission was to design intimate apparel that flattered a certain body type—her own.
“She wanted to design lingerie and she knew what she wanted,” said Lauren Bitar, Director of Retail for the company.
Turns out that Ms. Mejia’s design skills and eye for all things beautiful appealed to women everywhere. The success of the duo of Mejia and Rovito is evidenced by their label’s appearance in the finest retailers and as featured in magazines such as Brides, Women’s Health and Cosmopolitan.
The small, pleasantly-appointed shop with its array of lingerie has an elegant and somewhat dreamy quality that makes luxury seem more like a right than an indulgence. Unique and highly personalized customer service is one of Eberjey’s hallmarks—a must in the intimate apparel business. In addition to their adult line of thongs, bralets (minus the annoying underwire), camis, boy shorts, pajamas, loungewear and swimwear, the shop carries their new line of “Mini-E” fashions for the very young girl.
