Fitness Together makeover winners – fit and fashionable

By Nancy Eagleton….

The big winners at the big reveal… (L to R) M. Lisette Rebibo, Sara Kahn, Fitness Together owner Scott Baumann, Chris Fritzius and Bea Rosabal.

The results are in and just look at them now… The fabulous four winners of the Fitness Together Resolution 2011 Makeover Challenge lost a combined 60 pounds during the eight week challenge.

Each week, the group received three free training sessions and Nutrition Together counseling from personal trainers at Fitness Together in South Miami and Coconut Grove. They also ate healthy meals in the right proportions, which were delivered five days a week by Healthy Cuisine.

Analyst Chris Fritzius lost a whopping 30 pounds. New mom M. Lisette Rebibo lost 15 pounds and seven inches in her waist. Graphic designer Bea Rosabal lost inches everywhere and is now one dress size smaller. Student Sara Kahn lost 12 pounds and gained strength and endurance to boost her performance in her sport, water polo.

To prepare for the “big reveal” held recently at Fitness Together in South Miami, stylist Kim Rodriguez of KR Personal Style took each of the winners on a shopping trip to help them dress for success. This was Kahn’s favorite part of the makeover. Clothing to complete their new looks was generously donated by The Dressing Room in South Miami, Emporium in Coral Gables and Unika in Coconut Grove.

“The common thread in dressing these four was to select pieces with the right proportions to flatter their new physiques,” said Rodriguez. Rebibo, who was wearing boot-cut pants for the first time, said, “I’m a T-shirt and jeans gal, so it was fun to put myself in Kim’s capable hands.”

To cap off her new style, Rebibo visited Jill McAllister of Hair Revue who lightened the look of her long tresses with highlights, lowlights and a chic, shoulder-length bob.

Fritzius, who is continuing his training sessions with his trainer, Gabriel Lamas, at Fitness Together in Coconut Grove, visited Unika with Rodriguez to select his outfit, which included pants with a waist size seven inches smaller than his old ones.

“I needed a new outfit because none of my clothes fit me anymore,” Fritzius said. “But, that’s a good problem to have.”

Fitness Together owner Scott Baumann said that this challenge has been about showing this group how to make life style changes. “Throughout the eight weeks, these four have each learned that they are capable of more than they think. They caneat healthy. They canget fit,” he said. “The fashion and style makeover component showed them that they canwear fashion-forward, slim-fitting pieces – clothing they never thought they could wear.”

Rosabal, who has asymptomatic Multiple Sclerosis and has never thought of herself as someone who could maintain an exercise program, is forging forward with her healthy habits. “I have a new attitude about exercise and healthy eating,” she said “This is the beginning of the rest of my life.”
