Lorenzo Ramon is a Brazilian culinary visionary with more than 20 years of experience in the foodservice industry. Ramon started laying the foundation for his professional career at a young age when he began working at the family bookstore as a clerk when he was only 14 years old. For the next four years, he learned many aspects of running a business, from sales and customer service to product management.
Following high school, Ramon moved to London to study English and that is where his passion for cooking ignited. In an effort to gain as much experience as possible, he worked in all areas of the restaurant industry including distributing menus for a local Chinese restaurant on the subway. He took jobs as a catering waiter, bartender, cook and eventually an assistant manager in an Italian restaurant.
A gastronomic craftsman inspired by locally sourced food, Ramon returned to his native Brazil bursting with new ideas. He became a wine importer and distributor, started a special events and catering business and opened two restaurants, one contemporary and one French, which gained international recognition at the helm of Ramon for 15 years.
In 2015, Ramon moved to Miami, Florida, and became the creative force and passionate restaurateur behind Fornaro Restaurant & Gourmet Pizza. Located in the heart of Coconut Grove, Fornaro’s cuisine includes authentic Italian dishes including the rare stateside dish of polpettone, wood-fired pizzas and homemade pasta favorites with creative culinary twists. In 2016, Ramon plans to open two more Fornaro Restaurant & Gourmet Pizza locations in Florida.
