South Miami fraud suspect Katty M. Hernandez

South Miami Police Detectives obtained and served a search warrant in Coral Gables, Florida today in an effort to identify and recover items that were purchased from Nordstrom Retail Store utilizing stolen funds from a victim in South Miami. The warrant location was 230 Salamanca Ave., Apt #7.

The subject, Katty M. Hernandez (DOB 02/19/87), had been arrested before by South Miami Police detectives. Hernandez received a two-year probation sentence and just recently, started committing fraud again. Detective King, who was in charge of the case, was persistent in making sure this time the South Miami Police Department obtained enough evidence to make sure this crime would not happen again. The detective obtained a search warrant, an arrest warrant and all documentation from the banks.

Over $160,000 worth of merchandise had been taken and detectives were on the scene recovering the stolen merchandise (high end purses, shoes, clothing, jewelry and other miscellaneous items were recovered).

The arrest was successful and without incident. The charges range from:
• Organized scheme to Defraud 50K+ Felony 1st DEG • Money laundering 20K-100K Felony 1st DEG
• Grand Theft First Degree
• Identification Information/Use Fraudulently Felony 1st DEG
