New Neighbors Club installs executive board members

An essential component of running a not–for-profit organization is the individuals who give their time and talents. To thank the many individuals who make the New Neighbors Club of South Dade a success, April is designated Membership Appreciation Month.

The newly elected executive board will be installed during the monthly luncheon on Apr. 8, followed by recognition of all those who have served the club in the past year. To celebrate the club’s proud history and extend appreciation to those who served in the past, pictures and memorabilia dating back to the days of Welcome Wagon will be on display.

The newly elected executive board members are: president, Sharalynn Torres; first vice president programs, Thelma Tucker; second vice president membership, Christine Wagner; corresponding secretary, Debi McCarthy; recording secretary, Margie Askins; treasurer, Barbara Hertz; historian, Elaine DeLeonardis, and parliamentarian, Nancy Blount.

Following lunch enjoy the lovely voices of the men and women of Community Habilitation Center-he WOW Center. New Neighbors has provided monetary support of The WOW Center for many years and welcomes these extraordinary individuals.

The WOW Center offers support, guidance and encouragement to adults with developmental disabilities in order to help them become more independent. The center provides a safe, pleasant and comfortable place to learn and work plus ongoing support for individuals who wish to participate in paid employment in our community, as well as advocating for each individual’s rights under the law.
