On Monday, October 20th, 2014 at 11:00 am special guest Mayor Miriam Fierberg-Ikar of Netanya, Israel and Sunny Isles Beach Mayor Norman S. Edelcup joined the Steiger Family in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new A rated office building in the city. One Netanya, named after our Sister City in Israel, was a labor of love by local developer and resident Arie Steiger who grew up in Netanya. The event was attended by both Sunny Isles Beach and Netanya city officials, the Israeli Consul General Chaim Scham, Mount Sinai Medical Center representatives, and members of The Steiger Groupwho hosted the event.

One Netanya was developed by and will be operated by The Steiger Group, which has family in Netanya, Israel. Steiger Group President Arie Steiger was instrumental in bringing together the two cities in a Sister Cities International Agreement in 2007 and continues to be the liaison for this Sister City relationship. Netanya, Israel became our first Sister City and were special guests and performers at the SIB 10th Anniversary Celebration. The relationship has continued to prosper ever since. This building, named after them, solidifies the relationship between the twin cities. “This prestigious office building, the first of its kind in Sunny Isles Beach, will forever link these two wonderful cities that I have been honored to call my home” says Arie Steiger as he beams with pride. Netanya Mayor Miriam Fierberg-Ikar was equally as proud as she said, “We are honored to be here for this special dedication and will go home and show everyone that a piece of Netanya is here in Sunny Isles Beach.”

One Netanya, at 323 Sunny Isles Boulevard, will be the home of the Mount Sinai Primary & Specialty Care in Sunny Isles Beach. This is exciting news for patients who previously had to travel farther south to see their Mount Sinai physicians. Mount Sinai CEO Steven Sonenreich was present for the ribbon cutting and expressed his enthusiasm for this new venue. “With the eventual opening of Mount Sinai Primary & Specialty Care Sunny Isles Beach, on the 6th floor of this building, it will be easier than ever for residents to see a Mount Sinai physician whenever the need arises” said Sonenreich who continued “All this would not be possible without Mayor Edelcup. He is a visionary for this City and in the society of Mount Sinai”.

Mayor Edelcup understood the need for quality medical care to further his goal of transforming Sunny Isles Beach from a tourist town to a world class city. “With the addition of a medical center as prestigious as Mount Sinai Medical Center and all that they can offer, we have really matured. In only 17 years we have added 10 parks, an A rated school, transformed the skyline, provide the highest standard police presence, and very soon, quality health care.” stated Mayor Edelcup. Check the newspaper and website for an announcement detailing office hours and physicians who will have offices in this new location.
