‘Have a Ball’ Fall calendar

The Sunny Isles Beach Cultural and Human Services Department has gone “all-fallout” to plan the city’s 2010 Fall Calendar of Programs and Events featuring concerts, classes, sports activities, cultural event trips, plus special events for all ages the whole community is invited to enjoy.

The entire calendar can be viewed on the city’s website sibfl.net – but the following synopsis can help you start getting in on all the action ensuring everyone in Sunny Isles Beach will have a ball this fall!

SUNNY SERENADE, SEPT. 15 – FREE!

The Sunny Isles Beach Orchestra will kick off the city’s Sunny Serenade concert series with the season opener 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Samson Oceanfront Park.

Led by Eugene Muchnik, a resident of Sunny Isles Beach for over 20 years, the SIB Orchestra is comprised of local “musical soul mates determined to bring the beauty of live music back to those who appreciate the genuine article and experience.” The group, also featuring award-winning vocalists, delights audiences with performances influenced by American, Latin and Russian pop culture. The city will host the Sunny Serenade Concert Series from Sept. through May, typically on the third Wednesday of the month. The free concerts are open to the public and include live musical entertainment and refreshments for sale. Parking is available along the north side of 174th Street and in the municipal parking lot located at 175th Street and Atlantic Avenue. The city shuttle bus will also be running the special events schedule.

7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Pelican Community Park The city’s “spooktacular” two-night Halloween celebration will feature games, rides, music, fun foods, contests and the spookiest haunted house in town!

3RD ANNUAL SUNNY ISLES BEACH JAZZ FEST, OCT. 15-17

The third annual Sunny Isles Beach Jazz Fest will once again celebrate the extraordinary sounds of jazz music throughout the event weekend. The events feature top Miami jazz artists and will benefit Joshua’s Heart Foundation and Miami Children’s Hospital. Friday evening, Oct. 15: Acqualina Resort; Saturday evening Oct. 16: Samson Oceanfront Park; Sunday, Oct. 17: Jazz brunch at the Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort. Direct from the world famous Apollo Theatre in New York City, a brand new, sensational stage production of Dreamgirls. Dreamgirls tells the rags to riches story of a 1960s Motown girl group and the triumphs and tribulations that come with fame and fortune. Ziff Ballet Opera House, seats in Lower Orchestra. NOV. 4, 12:30 P.M., ON THE TOWN, BROWARD STAGE DOOR THEATRE

NOV. 12, 1 P.M., TRIP TO EGYPTIAN GALLERY BASS MUSEUM OF ART

The new Egyptian Gallery presented by the Kaiser and Kosh Family Gallery will showcase the sarcophagi, mummy and objects of Egyptian antiquity on long-term loan from the Brooklyn Museum, Lowe Art Museum and Private Collections.
