Students perform the Musical Theatre “Work in Progress” number from the Lion King.

The Pelican Community Park’s very own Youth Musical Theatre “Work in Progress” took the stage on March 30 as they brought a piece of the famous Broadway Musical The Lion King to life. Students presented a small extract from a magnificent and pulsing spectacle driven by primal African rhythms. The viewers could only marvel at the exotic procession of animals before them: the giraffes, and zebras, and elephants and all those colorful birds.

The show “work in progress” was short but quite enchanting. Smooth moves of young dancers, clad in animal-print costumes with masterfully painted faces, beautiful stage décor, and the powerful tunes held everybody’s attention from start to finish. The Lion King was a colorful display of exotic African wildlife. The performing students and their teachers received a standing ovation for their beautiful performance.

The City of Sunny Isles Beach has opened enrollments into the new Musical Theater Camp for the summer 2011. Along with the other Specialty Day Camps such as Pelican Circus Camp, Lego Robotics and Art of Superheroes, all registrations are held at the Pelican Community Park, 18115 North Bay Road.
