The City’s annual Anniversary celebration is usually scheduled for the third Sunday in June each year, since the actual date of incorporation was June 16, 1997. But this year, the day of the celebration actually corresponds to the real anniversary. The City will be, as they say, “Sweet 16” on the 16th!
Entertainment, games and food will be offered for the residents at Town Center Park, 17200 Collins Avenue from noon to 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 16th. The traditional barbeque will be free for all holders of the SIB Resident ID Card. Those without the card or non-residents will be required to pay $5 for the meal from Shorty’s BBQ. The 16th Anniversary cake will also be cut and served by the City Commission at approximately 3:00pm.
City Employees are visiting condominiums to sign up residents for the free Resident ID Card. If you see the table in your lobby and do not have the card, please stop by and sign up. Fill out an application, travel to Pelican Community Park or the Visitor Center to have your photo taken and begin reaping the rewards of holding a SIB Resident ID! Free gifts, discounts on attractions and ease of registration for programs and events are some of the benefits of holding this card.
If you miss the City display in your building, come by with a picture ID and utility bill or lease as proof of residency from 10:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Saturday at the Visitor Center (18070 Collins Avenue, First Floor) or at the registration desk at Pelican Community Park (18115 North Bay Road), 8:30am – 8:30 pm Monday – Saturday and 8:30 – 4:30pm, Sundays.
Only 3 weeks left until the celebration. Come prepared with your Resident ID Card. Join in the fun and collect a special gift for card holders. See you at Town Center Park, 17200 Collins Avenue from noon – 4:00pm on Sunday, June 16th. Remember to leave the driving to us by taking the free special event community shuttle bus to and from your home.
