ArtWall Complete and March Music Month Coming

ArtWall Complete and March Music Month ComingThe Sunny Isles Beach Foundation recently completed its Youth Art Competition and Mural, celebrating the vibrant coastal life of South Florida. Students were invited to submit finished work to reflect on environmental conservation, water recreation and the use of local waters in their communities as inspiration for this project. Works were selected by a jury panel of professionals and the selected pieces were transposed by a Wynwood muralist into a sectional mural design on the public wall located at 183rd Street in Sunny Isles Beach. The unveiling occurred on November 20 and the chosen artists signed their works on the wall.

We are hopefully encouraging the follow- ing young artists to keep on:

ArtWall Complete and March Music Month ComingNext comes March Music Month. In partnership with the City of Sunny Isles Beach, the Foundation Board has decided to augment the City’s highly successful “Beethoven on the Beach” annual concert to be held this year on March 13th, with the creation of an entire month of music, including both free events to the public as well as some private small fundraising salons on the east side of Collins Avenue. Free performances include one on Thursday March 10 in Heritage Park. This will be an Evening with Ian Maksin & Gabriel Dactu-Music from Tango to the Baltics to Sting. Dactu and Maksin play works from Bach to Lady Gaga, taking cello and guitar to a whole new level.

Their style encompassing blends every genre from swing to R & B and Latin and French pop. The duo is being presented by Orchestra Miami, who’s Founder and Artistic Director is Elaine Rinaldi. Orchestra Miami is entering their ninth season. Their goals mirror the Foundation’s goal- to bring neighbors together and enhance their overall quality of life with high-quality classical symphonic music.

On March 16, Peter and the Wolf will be presented by the Amernet String Quartet at the Norman S. Edelcup K-8 School. Internationally acclaimed Amernet String Quartet plans to perform several events in the City of Sunny Isles Beach during the month of March. The Amernet String Quartet is also the ensemble in residence at FIU.

Surprise pop-up events will happen in parks around the city for the public. Shhhh. We can’t tell you when or it won’t be a surprise. Additionally, private events are also being scheduled in the Turnberry Ocean Club, the Millenium and other venues. Says Chairman Norman Edelcup, “We are hopeful March Music Month will become an annual event and will begin to also offer more varied genres in the future.”
