Mayor George “Bud” Scholl resigned his seat as City Commissioner, Seat 03, in order to run in the Mayoral seat for the General Election held on November 4, 2014. At the City Commission meeting held on October 16, 2014, the City of Sunny Isles Beach Commission called for a Special Election to be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, and if necessary, a Run-Off Election on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, for the purpose of submitting to the electorate the names of all qualified candidates for election to the position of City Commissioner, Seat 03 (Southern Residential Area) for the nearly two-year unexpired term.
At the Special City Commission meeting held on December 2, 2014, the City Commission, via Resolution No. 2014-2344, approved the appointment of Dana Goldman to fill the vacancy for City Commissioner Seat 03 until the Special Election on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. City Commissioner Seat 03 will be on the November 8, 2016 General Election ballot.

Only registered voters in Sunny Isles Beach will be qualified to vote in said election. The polling places in Sunny Isles Beach will be open for voting from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Bring your voter Information card and a photo ID.
