Gloria and Herb Barker, founders of Barker Specialty Company, Barker Character, Comic and Cartoon Museum and three Barker Animation Art Galleries, had become legends in the charitable communities with their incredible history of art donations. On Sunday, October 19th, Gloria passed away peacefully, leaving a life well lived and well loved.

Gloria always had a special interest in helping children’s charities, and there is an incredibly long list of charities, schools, hospitals and organizations dedicated to helping children that have been on the receiving end of Gloria’s generosity.  From JAFCO (Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options) to the Hollywood Boys and Girls Club, to Lauren’s Kids and  Chabad Chayil to Aventura Hospital, Memorial Healthcare System, Miami Children’s Hospital, Dan Marino Children’s Center, Sinai Plaza and Mount Sinai Medical Center, Gloria simply loved to gift them with artwork.   In 2012, Gloria began the Art From the Heart program with the Aventura Marketing Council/Chamber of Commerce, and began donating artwork to the 75 AMC member charities and non-profit organizations

Gloria would always say, “I hope to keep on living so I can keep on giving”.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 69 years, Herb and their four children, Gerry, Steven, Adrienne and Amy.
