Mount Sinai Medical Center welcomes Dr. Philip Bao, the newest member of its surgical oncology team. Dr. Bao is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, with clinical interest in abdominal surgical oncology. In his role at Mount Sinai, Dr. Bao will provide his expertise in the treatment and management of benign and malignant conditions of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts.
He will also treat other abdominal cancers such as those of the stomach, intestine, and retroperitoneum.
Dr. Bao earned his medical degree at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine – City University of New York (CUNY). He then completed his general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Bao completed surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, Dr. Bao served as an assistant professor of surgical oncology at Stony Brook University Medical Center in New York since 2009.
Dr. Bao is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Americas Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
Dr. Bao joins Dr. Juan Paramo, Dr. Thomas Mesko, Dr. Kfir Ben-David and Dr. Hendry Wodnicki to form Mount Sinai’s surgical oncology team.
