On Wednesday, November 28, students of Pelican Community Park’s Musical Theater program performed Beauty and the Beast, a children’s play based on the famous Walt Disney musical. As the PCP tradition goes, these end-of-the-session showcases are free of charge and open to students of afterschool program, families and friends of the performing students, City employees, city residents and guests.
This wonderful musical was warmly received by the audience; a touching story of Belle, a young girl from a small town, and the Beast, who is an enchanted prince, whose curse was lifted and who was transformed to his former self once he learned to love and be loved in return. Colorful costumes and decorations created by the Musical Theater teachers, singing and dancing to the enchanting music – all created an unforgettable and charming ambiance of the favorite fairytale.
Anita Capone as Belle, Olivia Feldman as the Beast, the rest of the cast, such as Alexis Khodos, Belen Henao-Brown, Gabrielle Hug, Savannah Riley, Catherine Solovey and Emma Mellgren as a narrator – all performed very well and enjoyed the event as much as the spectators did. The show was a huge success. At the end of the event, grateful parents presented flowers to the teachers, Stephanie Riboul and Norelli Liguori, who did an outstanding job putting the play together. Students, both excited and relieved because the performance went very well, were treated to little cupcakes, fruits and lemonade.
