This service offers opportunities for seniors to sit down with a City employee to get the kind of help expected from a friend or favorite nephew or niece. Here are some examples.
A senior wants help renewing his automobile tags.
A Senior Helper can sit with the senior to make sure the renewal form is filled out correctly before the senior mails it in.
An elderly couple is moving and wants their Social Security checks sent to their new address in a timely manner.
The couple can sit with a Senior Helper and together call the Social Security office to find out what is required. The Senior Helper can make sure the couple completes any necessary paperwork.
A senior needs help communicating with her telephone service provider over a disputed item on a bill.
A SIB Senior Helper can sit with the senior, and together call the telephone company’s customer service office. They can work together to clarify the dispute. The Senior Helper can make sure the senior understands what is necessary to resolve the problem.
