Spring Fling Blossoms in Sunny Isles Beach

Spring Fling guests standing ovation

More than a hundred residents came to Pelican Community Park on Saturday, March 10, for the annual Spring Fling event sponsored by the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Some of the prominent City officials and activists with their families were present at the event: Vice Mayor Lewis J. Thaler, City Manager Alan Cohen, Dennis Stubbolo, Tony Locastro, Bob Welsh, John Napolitano.

In the past few years since the Pelican Community Park has opened, residents always enjoyed the City’s recreational events such as Holiday Ball and Spring Fling, when the Community Center got converted into a cozy banquet hall for the local community, where people can get together with their friends and neighbors for a pleasant evening of dinner and dancing, meet new people, have an easy chat and laugh, listen to nice music and participate in raffles.

This year we were able to take this event to the next level. The City didn’t spare resources to provide quality food and best entertainment for the residents who gathered at the Community Center to celebrate the upcoming spring.

The food catered by the famous Italian restaurant ‘Mario-The- Baker’ was delicious: chicken parmesan and meatballs, spaghetti with marinara sauce, veggie lasagna and garlic rolls, topped with Real Sangria, and then nice chocolate cake and coffee for the dessert. Everything was fresh and plentiful!

The music theme of this year’s Spring Fling was ‘Tribute to Elvis’

The performer David Morin, dressed as Elvis, and his band presented the best of the legendary Elvis and then more of other party mix and really got the audience raving. The guests sang along and danced all evening and didn’t even want to leave past 9 o’clock at least not without thanking the staff for the wonderful night. Due to the efforts of the entire Cultural and Human Services Department we received more compliments than ever before from residents for the beautifully arranged event and the job well done.

It is a great pleasure for me to share all the credit and residents’ appreciation with our outstanding CHS team who worked hard to make this event a total success: Fernanda Gonzalez, Pharin Walker, Norelli Ligouri, Karen Rodriguez, Darya Yeroshova, and other assistants. Special Thanks go to Marie Napolitano for her great leads for the entertainment and food choice – both turned out remarkable! And lastly, my deepest respect and gratitude go to Cary Martinez, our special events coordinator, for her original and amazingly creative ideas for decorations for the Spring theme and the fabulous front lounge dedicated to Elvis. Thank you all very much. You have the appreciation of all the residents in attendance.
