Summer Fun in Sunny Isles Beach

#02 Sunny Isles Beach Car Show and Sock Hop 05.31 (33)The last special event of the school year was held on Saturday, May 31st from 4 – 9 pm in Heritage Park. Residents were able to enjoy two classics at once, a Classic Car Show, presented by Jumpin’ Jack Productions, and a Classic Rock and Roll performance, music provided by VIVA.

School may be out for the year, but that only signals the beginning of more fun, summer fun in Sunny Isles Beach. There is plenty of fun in the sun for kids, parents and vacationers. From the beaches, to the ocean, the splash pad at Heritage Park and the playgrounds at all the City parks, there are a myriad of activities to keep all ages busy.

Summer Camp is well underway with field trips such as bowling, paintball, and water parks offered to the campers. Of course there is always the beach, right at our own front door. If liquid sunshine begins to fall, there are arts and crafts and games to fill the days. There is still limited space available in summer camp. Or families can find activities at the Community Center from our instructors who offer lessons such as karate, chess, guitar and piano throughout June, July and August. Stop by Pelican Park to sign up for something that interests you!

The summer event season kicked off with the 17th Anniversary celebration on Sunday, June 15 from 3 – 7 pm at Town Center Park. Featured activities included the traditional barbecue and cake cutting with games for the kids while parents enjoyed music by Higher Ground. Check out our Photo Gallery.

Bingo continues throughout the entire year, twice monthly, the first and fourth Wednesdays. Beat the heat. Slide into summer with friends and neighbors by playing bingo in air conditioned comfort. Win gift cards or cash prizes. Participation is $2 pp.

This summer an additional Golden Era Movie has been placed on the event schedule in August. So residents and visitors may enjoy the cool air conditioned comfort of the Pelican Community Center great room twice as often. In both months, lunch follows the movie. Dates are July 8th (East of Eden with James Dean) and August 12th (Viva Las Vegas with Elvis Presley). Reservations are required, come in to sign up, free for SIB Resident ID Cardholders and $5 without.

More special events and services will be advertised throughout the summer including: concerts, blood drives, driver’s license renewals, and mobile library services.
