American Cemetery at Omaha Beach/Normandy, France.

Each year on Veterans Day, November 11, a ceremony is held at Heritage Park (19200 Collins Avenue) to honor American Military Veterans. Whether serving in war or peace time, all veterans deserve to be recognized for standing for our freedom. Recently, Harry Frahm, a longtime resident, sent pictures in for the Where in the World column. He graciously allowed the photos, taken at WWII historical locations, to be used for this article. Harry posed at the Monument for D Day and at the waterline on Omaha Beach, Normandy. He also had a fellow traveler pose at the American Cemetery, where our countrymen are buried.

Residents of Sunny Isles Beach who have served in the United States Military and have completed a nomination for veterans’ wall application, will be added to the Heritage Park History Wall (19200 Collins Avenue) on Wednesday, November 11 this year. The City of Sunny Isles Beach would like to recognize the residents who have served our country by adding their names. For consideration, Veterans must fill out the application form along with providing proof of residency and copy of Honorable Discharge Certificate or DD214 Discharge Form.
