During a recent trip to Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, I stopped to pose with an issue of the Sunny Isles Beach Sun Community Newspaper in front of the historic log Frankenberger Tavern.
Records at the Mechanicsburg Museum Association state, “In 1801, George Frankenberger built this log tavern in the woods beside the great road from Harrisburg to Carlisle, before there was a Mechanicsburg. It served as a place for travelers and their animals to eat and sleep, mainly for those on foot and moving slowly, such as drovers moving livestock.
The tavern is believed to be the oldest building in Mechanicsburg.”You too can appear in an issue of the paper. When you travel, take a copy of the Sunny Isles Beach Sun newspaper with you, pose with the paper in front of a landmark or with your group. Send the photo with the highlights of your trip to the address below.
If you would like your original photograph returned, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your correspondence.
