West Park Riders Learn Bike Safety Tips

As is known throughout the State of Florida March is Bicycle Safety Month. To commemorate the yearly tradition, we held our free Annual Bike Safety Event and Bike Rodeo at Mary Saunders Park on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. With the help of Broward Sheriff’s Office Detective Iamel Martinez, the Parks and Recreation Department fitted participants of all ages with free bike helmets. We also taught riders how to ride and cross streets safely, avoid pot holes/road debris, and practice general bicycling courtesies. After the courses and training provided, all participants were invited to a group ride-a-long within the confines of Mary Saunders Park on the new walking/riding trail installed last year. For more information on this event or any other recreational events, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department by phone at 954-985-1990 or via e-mail at cgarcia@cityofwestpark.org.
