Outstanding service, including diffusing potential demonstrations, earned Det. Ronald Gooden (center) Officer of the Month honors for September presented by Miami-Dade Dade Police Kendall District Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) chair Barry White (left) and Maj. Christopher Carothers (right) during a CAC meeting on Oct. 29.
Officer Gooden was singled out for interpersonal skills as a mediator to help alleviate potential disturbances during Easter season abortion protests, quelling “any potential conflict between the two adversary groups.”
Officer Gooden also was cited for his effort in Richmond Heights to enhance relationships between police and the community, a “model for others to follow,” the citation noted.
In May 2014, Officer Gooden received the prestigious Governor’s Medal of Honor for heroism after helping save the life of a pregnant woman trapped in an overturned vehicle about to catch on fire, the statement concluded.
