Over 550 Miami philanthropists recently gathered at Fontainebleau Resort in Miami for the “I Have A Dream” Foundation of Miami Annual Gala Dinner hosted by Stephanie, Jules, and Eddie Trump of Acqualina Resort & Spa. The gala raised over $550,000 for children’s programs in Miami.

Guests attended a VIP cocktail party and silent auction with lavish items from the art, design, travel, and fashion arena followed by dinner and live auction which included trips to some of the most exclusive destinations around the world including a five-night stay at Oscar de La Renta designed villa in Dominican Republic and nine-day safari expedition in South Africa.

Gala attendees were treated to a special performance by Grammy-award winning New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. Newly crowned Miss World, Miss America Alexandria Mills, made a special appearance at her first charity function after becoming 60th Miss World. Also attending was First Runner-Up Miss Botswana Emma Wareus.

The nonprofit philanthropic organization’s Miami chapter was founded in 1995 by the Trump Family. The foundation adopted the entire second grade class (97 Dreamers) at the Charles R. Drew School in Liberty City. These Dreamers were provided with year-round (after school and summer) programs of academic enhancement, as well as cultural, social, and recreational activities, throughout their entire educational years. This continuous motivation and support gave them the stability and proper tools they needed and deserved to reach their academic success. 95 Dreamers reached the twelfth grade with 26 having already graduated college and 50 students currently enrolled at a university. In August of 2007, the Miami chapter started a new class of Dreamers at Hibiscus Elementary School – the class of 2020.

At the beginning of the evening’s gala, Stephanie Trump announced the launch of General Mills’ Box Tops for Education program at Acqualina Resort & Spa (www.acqualinaresort.com). Acqualina has pledged to work with hotel guests, residents and the local Miami community to collect, organize, and submit box tops found on a variety of General Mills products in an effort to help raise funding for school supplies and enhancement programs for the children at Hibiscus Elementary.
