Our NSE SIB teams were prepared and excited to compete at the STEM Expo held on the campus of Miami Dade Community College. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and is an initiative that promotes these areas of learning. Students who belong to the SECME Club apply their skills to design and refine their projects in specific categories. It takes patience, per- severance and dedication to build, test, and then rebuild their projects. Then students are eligible to showcase their hard work and enter their projects in a competition attended by students throughout the District.
We sent a team of young scientists spanning grades 4-8 who demonstrated their skills in various categories and the results were fantastic!
Ms. Aguilar, Math/Science Coordinator for the school, proudly announced that Saturday was a great day for NSE SIB K-8! Our SECME club, sponsored by Mr. London and Ms. Pena, brought in 4 trophies. Congratulations to the teachers and the following students:

At the same time, our elementary and middle school science fair winners were showcasing their science fair projects at the South Florida
Regional Science and Engineering Fair. Once again the results were outstanding!

We are still awaiting the middle school results, but we do know that Isabella Perdomo (6th Gr) will be heading to the State competition! We wish “Bela” good luck as she continues her journey.
In addition to outstanding scientists, NSE SIB is proud of its talented musicians. Ms. Rabinovich, Middle School Music teacher, proudly announced that the following students auditioned for and were selected to participate in the 2015 Superintendent’s Honor Music Festival:
Nour Andrade (Gr8), Stephanie Calle (6), Julia Candido (7), Paola Carbonara (8), Johanna Mijares (6), Gianluca Nagaro (7) and Mya Parra (8). These talented violinists will perform with the Secondary String Orchestra.
Ms. Rabinovich also announced that Brandon Goldberg, a 3rd grade student at NSE SIB, will be performing at the Adrienne Arsht Center in March. Brandon is an accomplished pianist who has entertained audiences throughout the county.
We are all so proud of all our students’ extraordinary accomplishments and the role we played in motivating and supporting them. The entire community should take great pride in these students.
