Farra to lead United Way’s 51-member board for two years
With more than 35 years of experience in accounting and community leadership, Miguel G. “Mike” Farra, Chairman of the Tax and Accounting department at Morrison, Brown, Argiz & Farra, LLC(MBAF), has been elected to serve as chair of the United Way of Miami-Dade board. He succeeds longtime member and bank executive, Gene Schaefer of Bank of America, who recently concluded his two-year term as chair.
As chair, Farra leads a 51-member board comprised of business and community leaders who are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organization. A member of the board since 2011, he also served as co-chair of United Way’s Tocqueville Society Cabinet 2010 through 2013, leading a team of volunteers who worked closely with United Way staff to galvanize individuals to support the community at the highest levels of philanthropy.

At MBAF, Farra leads a team of highly skilled tax professionals working with clients domestically and internationally in a variety of industries ranging from banking and manufacturing, to wholesale/distribution, healthcare and real estate. In addition to serving on the United Way board, he has been involved with local charities, serving on a variety of boards, including University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Miami-Dade College Foundation and Camillus House. He is also a member and director of the International Wine and Food Society, and he and his wife Nelly are trustees of VeritageMiami, a four-day wine, beer and food gathering that benefits United Way.
Farra holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and juris doctor degree from the University of Miami.
