Barry Smith, a licensed Realtor Associate with Keller Williams Realty, has earned the Did You Serve? Veterans Homebuying Agent Certification, demonstrating commitment to serving veteran and military homebuyers.

To obtain the certification, Smith completed education and training designed to provide an in-depth study of the VA home loan program and how to better serve those who served. In addition, Smith has taken a pledge to ask the question “Did You Serve” to all clients.

By asking the question “Did You Serve?” Smith is able to identify veterans and service members who may be eligible for homebuying benefits earned through their service including the ability to purchase with no money down, no mortgage insurance and potentially lower interest rates.

“Veterans and service members have earned tremendous benefits through their service, but not a lot of real estate agents understand these advantages. When agents take the pledge to ask ‘Did You Serve?’ they are on the front lines of change,” said Alford L. McMichael, 14th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps and brand ambassador at Veterans United Home Loans (NMLS 1907), the parent company of Did You Serve? LLC.

“We want to see that percentage rise and these agents are taking the first steps to educate veterans on their loan benefits. I stand behind these agents and the cause of encouraging veteran homeownership,” he added.

The certification provides agents with resources including continuing education credit and marketing and educational materials to better serve those who’ve served, our nation’s veterans.
