Chabad of Downtown Coral Gables will be joining Books and Books in bringing a Jewish New Year Fair to the Coral Gables community. The fair will take place on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Books and Books, 265 Aragon Ave. in Coral Gables.
Young and old will have a chance to get ready for the Jewish New Year, which begins on Sunday evening, Sept. 13. The New Year Fair will include many handson activities and crafts and will be featuring The Original Willie the Bee Man.
Willie the Bee Man will show first-hand how honey is made from start to finish. The children will get to extract honey from a honeycomb and take some home to enjoy. The Honey Presentation will take place at 2:30 p.m.
The community is welcome to join an afternoon of fun and educational activities.
In addition to the beekeeper demonstration, children will make their own honey dish and create New Year cards for children in the hospital. All attendees will enjoy a honey tasting bar and sample delicious Rosh Hashanah honey cakes.
“Sweet honey has a prominent place on the Rosh Hashanah holiday table,” explained Chany Stolik, co-director of Chabad of Downtown Coral Gables. “It expresses our prayerful wishes for a sweet new year.” There is no fee for this event and reservations are not required but are requested at chany@ChabadGables.com.
