With good weather comes more outdoor events and one that is always fun in the Pinecrest area is the Autoverks Classic Car Show at 8700 SW133 St.. October 17 was the most recent event attracting car lovers and families looking for a great evening out with the kids. This happens every third Saturday night and features live music by Zero Effect , great cars, photo-op with a fire truck and food for sale with proceeds benefitting the Coral Gables Rotarians veterans projects. Ongoing monthly programs at the Veteran Hospital are one of many ways that club supports those who have given so much to insure our freedom.Yet another fundraising effort to support those veterans related projects will be at the Grove Bed Race . More on that in next issue.
Speaking of charitable events, dozens of South Florida non profits participated in the October 3 Parkfest 5K on Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. It was a picture perfect day with low humidity and a lovely breeze coming off the beach for a day of activities from Zumba, yoga and live entertainment to bounce houses and beach fun. Community Newspapers was there supporting several charities including the Coral Gables Woman’s Club Children’s Dental Clinic and Coral Gables Rotary. This exciting event was produced by Marly Q and her supportive husband, Bert Casanova, a very talented musician who played the sax with the band while also lending a hand whenever he was needed. Kudos to this dynamic duo and their many Parkners for a beautiful day that helped so many charities raise needed funds.
Until next time, keep making each day count.
