The Audi TTS Coupe has received a complete redesign for 2016.
The most striking of its upgrades is its exterior, which now has an edgier and more stylish appearance than before. Under the TTS’ hood lies a powerful engine capable of 72 more horsepower than the Audi TT. The newly updated TTS also provides an even sharper ride than its predecessors as well as a streamlined interior and all the luxurious features Audi provides.
The 2016 Audi TTS is fitted with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, like the TT model. However, the TTS boasts 292 horsepower. The TTS’ Turbocharged EA888 engine provides 280 pounds-feet of torque and is capable of shooting the TTS from zero to 60 in an incredible 4.6 seconds. The TTS can reach a top speed of 155 mph (not that we recommend reaching such speeds).
Thanks to the electrically boosted power steering, driving the TTS feels very well grounded, accurate and secure even when rushing down the expressway at high speeds. The EPA has rated the TTS’ mileage at 23 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
Like the TTS’ performance, its exterior and interior are sharp. With the 2016 redesign, the TTS has shed its slightly rounded appearance to give way to a lower and more angular build. The new design for the TTS, which has evidently been inspired by the Audi R8, is as elegant as it is sporty. Its new exterior design is definitely a change the TTS needed.
Inside, the TTS has a very unique display. Rather than having several controls mounted on the center stack, many of the TTS’ controls are integrated into the driver’s screen, behind the steering wheel.
Air conditioning and heated seat controls are mounted on the TTS’s air vents, which are the primary features of the center stack. This integrated design yields a clean line and clutter-free dashboard. While this limits the passenger’s access to most of the controls, leaving yourself with all of the power may actually be a good thing.
As anticipated from an Audi, the TTS is crafted with high quality materials, which line the simple and futuristic interior. The interior features some of the following: ambient LED interior lighting, navigation system, garage opener, parking system, leather upholstery, Bluetooth with audio connectivity, 50/50 split folding rear seat, Audi virtual cockpit, Audi MMI Touch with voice controls, Audi music interface with two USB ports and an Aux cord. While this coupe does have a back row to offer, it is best served as storage, as opposed to bona fide seating.
Fast, sleek and modern, the 2016 Audi TTS Coupe is a fantastic luxury sports car with a unique aesthetic. This year, the Audi TTS has been completely redesigned, premiering a new, more contemporary design both inside and out. Capable of reaching a top speed of 155 mph and darting to 60 mph at 4.6 second, the Audi TTS is definitely a force to be reckoned with, when considering a sports car.
