The Subaru Impreza is the least expensive all-wheel-drive car you can get yet has several standard features and is phenomenally practical.

Additionally, for a car this size, it is the one of the very limited options if you’re looking for all-wheel-drive.

The 2016 Impreza has seen a few minor tweaks from 2015 but new features include Subaru’s EyeSight system for select trims. More importantly, is the 2016 Impreza’s fantastic crash test scores ensuring you’re safe.

Available in two body styles, hatchback or sedan, the Subaru Impreza is your best bet if you are looking for a small all-wheel-drive vehicle. Depending on the body style you select, you can choose from five trim levels. The sedan comes in 2.0i, 2.0i Premium or 2.0i Limited. For the hatchback, Subaru adds the 2.0i Sport Premium and 2.0i Sport Limited trim options.

This year, Subaru has added a very neat safety feature in the premium models — the Subaru Eyesight Driver-Assist System. The Eyesight system is allows the Impreza to break automatically when detecting a possible forward collision. Additionally, it includes adaptive cruise control, steering-responsive foglights and lane departure warning.

Standard features of the Impreza include: rear view camera, anti-theft alarm, immobilizer system, smartphone connectivity, remote keyless entry, leather-trim upholstery, a 6.2-inch infotainment system, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, six-way adjustable driver’s seat, four-speaker audio system, USB input and Bluetooth. The 2.0i Sport trim includes a larger, 7-inch touch screen, leather upholstery, an extra USB port and a power moonroof.

The Impreza’s interior is decidedly simple which is a good thing when you consider this car is built with dirt-prone outdoor activities in mind.

As for performance, the Impreza can take on anything. In any condition — in the city or through winding roads, rain and in sunshine — the Impreza provides a solid ride that always makes you feel in control. While its 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine with 148 horsepower isn’t exactly fast, it does provide great mileage at 27 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, which is quite competitive for its class.

Another attractive and very important feature of the Impreza are its exemplary safety ratings. The 2016 Impreza scored a perfect five out of five stars in overall government crash test ratings. By the Institute for Highway Safety’s standards, the Impreza earned the highest rating of “Good” in many crash tests including that for whiplash protection.

The 2016 Subaru Impreza is practically unchanged from the 2015 model year. However, in true Subaru fashion, the Impreza is a reliable, good performer with capable of bringing along all of your goods and outdoor gear. If you love the outdoors and need to haul your camping materials or surfboards, the Impreza can do that for you. The Impreza can also get you there, in a ride that makes you feel safe with its solid ride and high safety ratings.

The MSRP for the 2016 Subaru Impreza 2.0i Sport starts at $23,595.
