The Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave., opened Dream City Studio on Saturday, Sept. 10 to more than 250 Family Day attendees.
The museum has presented a variety of children’s programming from Family Days to camps, and the growing audience of parents have demanded a more family-friendly exhibit. Dream City Studio was conceived to meet this demand. In Dream City Studio, children ages 2 through 12 and their parents and guardians are encouraged to visit and play.
“Take a break from the summer heat, and join us at the Coral Gables Museum as we present our new children’s interactive exhibit,” said Caroline Parker, executive director and mother of two.
Dream City Studio is curated and designed by Cecilia Dubon Slesnick, a museum education professional, Coral Gables resident and mother of two.
“To quote Albert Einstein: ‘Play is the highest form of research,’” Slesnick explained.
In Dream City Studio, children can explore the museum’s mission through interactive constructivist activities. They will discover how cities are created, explore building materials, construct with building blocks, participate in the Junior Draftsman Challenge, or curl up with a good read in the Book Nook.
The pop-up exhibit’s initial run continues through Oct. 23, and then returns from Mar. 3 through May 29, 2017.

Access to Dream City Studio is included with museum admission: adults, $7; students and seniors, $5; children 6-12, $3; children under 3 and museum members are free.
Museum hours are: Tuesdays-Fridays, noon-6 p.m.; Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sundays, noon-5 p.m., and closed Mondays.
