Senator Anitere Flores has served in state government since 2004. She graduated with a B.A. in political science and international relations from FIU, and with a J.D. from UM. After law school, Flores was hired by the Florida House of Representatives to work on the education council, and later worked for Governor Jeb Bush as his education policy chief. Flores served in the Florida House from 2004-2010. Prior to being elected a State Representative, she spent two years advocating for university students in her district as director of state relations for FIU.

While in the House, Flores served as Deputy Majority Leader. In the Senate, she served as Majority Whip (2010-2012) and is presently chair of the Senate Fiscal Policy Committee.

She is a member of the National Assessment Governing Board, the National Association of Latino Elected Officials, and the Miami-Dade crime watch executive committee. She was recognized in The Huffington Post’s “40 under 40: Latinos in American Politics.”

Flores is the Director of Development for the ACE Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising funds for students and schools in need.
