Three Miami-Dade County schools honored by French government

G.W. Carver Middle School, Coconut Grove Elementary School, and Sunset Elementary School recently received the “LabelFrancEducation” certification.

This prestigious certification is granted by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs only to programs that offer enhanced instruction of French and teaching in French of at least one non-language subject. The combined total must account for at least 20 percent of the weekly teaching schedule. Since February 2012, only 91 schools from all over the world have received the “LabelFrancÉducation” seal.

Teachers in the bilingual classes must demonstrate evidence of qualifications, diplomas and French-language level, as well as participate in a rigorous training program.

The programs must present students for official French-language certification exams (Delf-Dalf) administered by France’s Centre International d’Etudes Pédagogiques and provide students with a French-speaking environment such as educational resources, school partnerships, etc.
