Laura Russo represents the best of Coral Gables as a person, lawyer and for her love of the city.

She was born, raised and educated in Coral Gables. From birth at Doctors Hospital to high school at the Convent of the Sacred Heart Carrollton School for Girls, and then the University of Miami, she remained in the “City Beautiful.” It was at Carrollton that she was taught the importance of giving back and serving the community, something that has been part of her life. She often does things behind the scenes with no recognition.

Her brilliance was apparent early on as she earned her Bachelor of Arts (BA) at the University of Miami in1978, graduating summa cum laude. She went on to receive her Juris Doctorate (JD) at thed University of Miami in 1984. and was a member of the Editorial Board Law Review from 1982 to 1984.

Her Coral Gables law firm of Laura L. Russo Esq. grew out of the original Coral Gables firm of Mayes, Sutton, Murphy & Russo established in 1952.

Her professional affiliations include the Florida Bar Association, 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and Dade County Bar Association. A born leader, she served as president of the Coral Gables Bar Association, 1989-90, and has served on the CGBA’s board of directors since 2011. From 1998, she served for six years on the Attorney’s Title Insurance Advisory Board and was Special Master – Code Enforcement for City of Coral Gables for five years beginning in 2005.

Laura, a gem on any board of directors, shines with her business savvy, common sense and passion for the city. The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce was fortunate to have Laura on its board of directors from 2010 to 2015 and on the Executive Committee from 2012 to 2015. In addition, she was parliamentarian on that board, 2014-15.

Yet another great Gables institution lucky to have her involvement was the Coral Gables Museum, where she serve on the board from 2012 to 2014. Most recently, Laura joined the board of directors of the Coral Gables Community Foundation.

Laura is single with two adult sons, 24 and 28. When she is not working or volunteering her time and talent to various organizations, she enjoys Pilates and yoga. She has a passion for the arts and loves traveling and reading.

A graduate of the University of Florida with a major in Spanish, Burns has an extensive background in advertising, marketing and reciprocal trade, travel , non profit consulting and management. Before joining Miami's Community Newspapers as a columnist and marketing specialist, Gloria was the Executive Director of the Jr. Orange Bowl Committee (6 yrs.) and first Executive Director of the Coral Gables Community Foundation (14 yrs.) and the Pinecrest Community Foundation (1 ½ yrs) . Burns' volunteer activities led her to become a columnist for Community Newspapers writing Gloria’s Gab, that focuses on the non-profit activity, and a host of an online show, Gloria's Gab LIVE. Gloria serves the board of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables as Civic and Charity Chair, and is involved in the club's International Committee. She is an active Life Member of the Jr. Orange Bowl Committee and is Secretary of the Merrick Festival. She serves on the board of directors of the Coral Gables Woman' Club as Publicity Chair and also coordinates the club's monthly fundraiser for various charities with Gringo Bingo at Clutch Burger. In addition, Gloria participates in numerous other charitable events and is a member of the Business Forum Group, Profit Inc., the Greater Miami Festival & Events Association and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. In other volunteer activity, Gloria helps Miami Christian School with fund-raising and PR; is an Ambassador and volunteers for events for A Safe Haven for Newborns. She is an active member of the Music Ministry at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she enjoys singing in the choir every weekend.
