Tim Schaffer is the incumbent candidate seeking re-election as council member for Palmetto Bay District 2 on Nov. 8.
First elected in November 2012, Schaffer is the sole proprietor of the independent office of Woodbury Financial Services Inc., and has spent 29 years in the financial consulting industry as a financial adviser, investment adviser representative, and an insurance agent.
Schaffer and his wife, Elena, moved to Palmetto Bay in January 2005, and except for the five years he lived in Virginia, he is a lifelong resident of Miami-Dade County.
The following are comments from the candidate:
“Asked what I would do in my first 100 days, as a seated council member I don’t have a schedule because I’m doing the job now. If re-elected I will continue my work on the many projects that have completion dates set for days, months, and even years. I am running for council re-election in order to serve another term so I may fulfill my promise to faithfully and diligently represent the residents of the village. I promise to continue putting their ideas into action and to finish the projects we started together.
“As a business owner, financial adviser, and a retired reserve police officer, I know that building trust is about being objective, consistent, and authentic. Residents can always count on that from me. I’m confident that the solutions I delivered in the areas of for traffic, fiscal responsibility, and controlled development is making our community a better one.
“My vision is a safe, livable, workable, and enjoyable Palmetto Bay. We must protect what we have, preserve it, and continue to gather everyone’s input to improve it. It is up to us to effectively address our modern challenges and to maintain our focus on family, neighborhood, and quality of life.
“If you share my vision for our community, I ask again for your vote. Help me make it happen for all of us. Together, we can continue to make Palmetto Baya better community.”
