Delta Dental Community Care Foundation has awarded the GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club a grant this year in the amount of $10,000 for its Children’s Dental Clinic.
Dr. Iris Torres, the club’s Dental Clinic director, announced the award at a recent board meeting and presented the check to CGWC president Deborah Van Stone Moore. CGWC’s clinic provides more than $225,000 in free dental services annually to the children of the working poor. Delta Dental’s support has been critical to the ability of the clinic to provide these services.
Delta Dental, whose group of companies, including the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation, donated $6.9 million in money and services during 2015 to organizations across the country whose goals are to provide community oral health programs and education; dental student scholarships; clinic services for the underserved, low-income and/or uninsured persons, and numerous other charitable organizations. That was nearly $1.5 million more than in 2014.
The Coral Gables Woman’s Club relies on foundations, donors, and fundraising activities to continue the outreach to children and have been fortunate to have continued support from so many such as the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation, Coral Gables Community Foundation, Tooth Healer Foundation, and Rotary Club of Coral Gables Foundation.
The clinic is owned and operated by the Coral Gables Woman’s Club members who volunteer countless hours to supporting this clinic as well as many other outreach efforts in the community.
Women interested in giving back to the community, regardless of where they reside, are welcomed to join the club and make lasting friendships while serving others. For more information, visit www.gfwccoralgablesowmansclub.org.
