You would be hard-pressed to find something worth critiquing in the 2017 Jaguar F-Type. As in previous years, this is one gorgeous luxury sports car — some might argue it’s the super model of all luxury sports cars.
There are a few new things, however, such as a wider variety of options: new lower-priced base model and a Premium trim, which adds what the base trim left out this year.
While the F-Type is offered in coupe and convertible options, we were able to test the SVR Coupe, which has a gorgeous, compact and sinuous figure. Inside the F-Type, which in our case was lined with sporty, yet elegant, red leather interior, you will find several top-notch features, geared to provide a better driving experience. These include some of the following: panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, touchscreen with backup camera, sensors, anti-theft engine immobilizer, powered tailgate and a 770W Meridian Sound System.
These desirable features are encased in a gorgeous exterior that was masterfully designed to not only be one of the most attractive luxury sports cars, but also to be an incredible performer.
Thanks to the 2017 F-Type’s hydraulic steering, it feels quick to respond and communicative while behind the wheel. The F-Type boasts a solid, confident grip, excellent rigidity and a breaking system that can stop the F-Type on a dime. Its performance is enhanced by all-wheel-drive.
Depending on your selection from the seven trims Jaguar offers in the Coupe build, the F-Type’s power is derived from of two supercharged engines, a 3.0-liter V-6 and a 5.0-liter V-8, which range from 340 (332 pound-feet torque) to 575 horsepower (516 pound-feet torque), respectively and can pump out a top speed of 200 mph and propel the F-Type from 0 to 60 in about 5.5 seconds. As far as fuel-efficiency, the F-Type’s EPA mpg is 16 in the city and 24 on the highway.
While its definitely petite, the F-Type provides enough room for the driver and front seat passenger to sit comfortably. The seats in the F-Type, as you’d expect, are sporty performance seats but provide great support with 14 ways to adjust.
However, if you are planning on using it for long hauls on the road, you may want to take the compact cargo room into account. Because of its small frame, cargo space in the F-type is just about seven cubic feet, which would roughly fit about two pieces of luggage.
