East Ridge at Cutler Bay, Miami-Dade County’s only life plan community, recently named Ron K. Smalls as executive chef for independent living and the new Three Palms Health Center.
Chef Smalls will be responsible for the fine dining and a la carte service in the community’s dining rooms as well as catering for the community’s many special events. East Ridge’s dining services accommodates residents seven days a week and serves three meals a day.
“Chef Smalls joins our culinary team headed by director of Food and Beverage Services Robert Ibgui, CEC, CDM. We are most pleased to have someone with Chef Small’s background as part of our East Ridge team,” said Jeff Merritt, executive director at East Ridge. “He is a talented chef and draws on excellent culinary and managerial skills.”
Previously the Chef de Cuisine of the Golf Grill at The Fisher Island Club, Smalls has held chef positions at prestigious resort hotels in South Florida and South Carolina including Roney Palace Resort, Miami; Hilton Harbor Resort, Charleston, and Four Seasons Resort, Palm Beach.
Smalls brings over 20 years of professional cooking experience and kitchen management to the position with East Ridge. His experience ranges from creating casual dining experiences to banquets. He has an associate’s degree in culinary arts.
