With graduation just a few months away, seniors at Miami Christian School continue to receive exciting scholarship offers. Most recently MCS senior, Julitza Lopez, was accepted to Rollins College and offered a four-year $40,000 scholarship. Yet another senior, Danny Fuenmayor, was accepted into St. Thomas University with a four-year scholarship of $48,000.
On the athletic front, in January, MCS sophomore Diego Rivera was named one of the “Athletes of the Week” by The Miami Herald. Diego plays on the MCS basketball team and recently scored 61 points in two district games against Island Christian and Schoolhouse Prep.
In alumni news, Jesica Garcia (Class of 2016), recently visited campus while on break from Penn State where she is attending on a scholarship. Garcia is involved in multi-cultural groups, the Pyramid Peer Mentoring Group and the CLDP Leadership Development Program for Latinos through which she will meet the president of the university this term and other high level administrators. She is currently majoring in finance.
Finally, congratulations to MCS 9th grader Bryan Castro who has been competing in the Junior Olympics in the sport of swimming since he was five years old. His most recent event was this past November. Over the years, he has collected an amazing number of medals and trophies for his efforts and dedication to the sport.
