A record crowd of 225 people gathered at the Rusty Pelican for Gilded Lilies fashion show luncheon on March 25, all to benefit Easter Seals of South Florida. Kudos to Gilded Lilies President Gloria Perez and President Elect and Luncheon Chair, the amazing Shelley Daniel, whose mother was one of the founders of this group. The affair featured a silent auction, a raffle, and a Chico’s coordinated fashion show with Easter Seal students modeling along with Gilded Lilies members. The always generous Dan and Trish Bell donated funds to pay for students, teachers and families to attend and receive for the new outfits the students modeled. Best of all, the event brought in $25,000 for Easter Seals, a charity this group has supported for 40 years. Easter Seals of South Florida supports and strengthens 1500 families living with Alzheimer’s, autism and other disabilities.
Aside from the fashion show, the program also highlighted a performance by a guitarist, one of many people Easter Seals of South Florida serves.

Finally, for all the golfers out there, A Safe Haven for Newborns, will hold its inaugural golf tournament on Friday, April 28, on the famed Trump Doral Golf Resort’s Red Tiger course at one o’clock. To date, we count with the friendship and support from the following corporate leaders in our community — Bacardi, Infinity of Coral Gables, Mercedes-Benz of Coral Gables, Miller Construction, OrthoNow, Super Restoration, and The Keyes Company. The proceeds from the event will benefit the many efforts to save babies made possible by the Gloria M. Silverio Foundation, a 501 (c)3, non profit, a statewide organization headquartered in Miami. This organization assists young expectant mothers who are scared in their most difficult and trying time, mothers whose infants are at risk of being abandoned in an unsafe place most certainly culminating in the infant’s death.
Currently, A Safe Haven for Newborns has helped more than 5,000 women and saved 258 babies, aided by Nick Silverio, founder of A Safe Haven for Newborns, an all volunteer organization.
