Biscayne National Park has released a prospectus outlining a business opportunity to bid on a concession contract. The new contract includes visitor boat trips to scenic park islands. Tours to the park will depart from Dinner Key Marina in Miami and the Dante Fascell Visitor Center at Convoy Point near Homestead.
“As one of the largest marine national parks, this new concession will provide visitors with greater opportunities to get out on the water and experience Biscayne Bay,” said Margaret L. Goodro, superintendent. “These boat tours will showcase Biscayne National Park and will provide for amazing recreational opportunities while enhancing tourism and economic benefits to south Florida.”
Required concession services include interpretive boat tours from Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove and the Dante Fascell Visitor Center at Convoy Point. Authorized services include: snorkel, dive and charter tours; paddle craft and bicycle rentals; limited retail, food and beverage services; camping gear and lockers, and related equipment and services. The concession will have new and unique access to the park from the popular Dinner Key Marina.
A site visit is scheduled on June 20. It is an opportunity for all interested parties to get an overview of the concession operation and a tour of facilities. For more information on how to bid, contract details or to attend the site visit, visit https://concessions.nps.gov/bisc002-17.html.
