Miami Beach International Fashion Week celebrates its 13th anniversary featuring fashion collections by designers from all over the globe. Owned and operated by Sobol-Perry Fashion Productions, Inc., this year’s show will be held from March 3-6, 2011, at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
During the past 12 years, Miami Beach International Fashion Week has evolved into the largest international fashion event in the United States, and Miami Beach is proud to be the location for such a globally recognized event. This year’s show will feature designers from all over the world including Italy, Spain, Malaysia, Pakistan, Lebanon, Canada, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean, Middle East, the United States and more. There are 600 registered media representatives attending the three day event with anticipated media hits of 470 million worldwide. The estimated economic impact on our community is close to $12 million.
Beth Sobol, President of Sobol-Perry Fashion Productions, Inc., founded Miami International Fashion Week in 1999 following a successful career as an international fashion model. She has worked with some of the fashion world’s most influential designers and producers and initially launched Fashion Week to provide a platform for designers from Latin America to gain international exposure. Her business partner & Immediate Past Chair of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, Aaron Perry, focuses on the development of strategic business partnerships with an emphasis on the global expansion of the Miami Beach International Fashion Week brand. He is currently spearheading efforts to add a trade show component as well as additional product lines.
This year’s event will be highlighted by over 60 international designers from 22 countries showcasing their latest collections in women’s evening wear, swimwear, men’s wear, jewelry and accessories. Miami Beach International Fashion Week opens March 3rd with the Lingerie/Swimwear Showcase and the Miami Style Showcase featuring Florida’s top designers. On Friday March 4th, the show will continue with the Jamaica Showcase followed by the Men’s and International Eveningwear Showcases. The Prêt-À-Porter Style, Copa Airlines, and Latin Fashion Councils Showcases will take place Saturday, March 5th. Closing night will feature the Miami Moda & Music awards hosted by television and radio host Brian Andrews and Ileana Garcia. In addition, Danasha Luxury from Lebanon will unveil two of its most extravagant and luxurious pieces from the Danasha Luxury Butterflies collection at the Miami Moda & Music Awards on March 6th. This decadent collection is embedded with diamonds and 18k gold. During the showcase of these unique pieces, attendees will have the opportunity to estimate how much each outfit will be valued for. The event will conclude with a live performance from an international recording artist.
