Palmer Trinity School’s (PTS) Junior Thespian Troupe recently had 26 of its members compete at the district level. Twelve of the student performances qualified to move on to the Florida Junior Thespian state competitions, and received the highest ranking score of “Superior.” Fourteen of the PTS troupe were honored with the second highest score of “Excellent” for their performances.

In addition, two of Palmer Trinity’s performance pieces were honored with a Critics Choice award. The Critics Choice recipients were Corbin Berg (seventh grade) for his Solo Pantomime, and Ava-Riley Miles (eighth grade) and Lucia Fernandez de los Muros (seventh grade) for their Musical Duet. As Critics Choice winners, both acts had the privilege of being performed during the festival’s closing ceremony for all of their fellow competing thespians.

Hundreds of acts are showcased at the district level, and only one performance is selected in each category as the best in the district and given the recognition of Critics Choice. It is Palmer Trinity School’s first time as the recipients of a Critics Choice award.

“We are exceedingly proud of all the competing thespians that represented Palmer Trinity in our district and look forward to similarly excellent repeat performances from those that have qualified to compete at the state level,” expressed Michael Stoddard, director of the theater department.

“A special congratulations to Corbin, Lucia and Ava-Riley who took home the rare and coveted Critics Choice award, a first for Palmer Trinity,” he said.
