The Coral Gables Museum brings together some of Miami’s most unique historically focused institutions on Wednesday, May 30, 6:30-8 p.m., tp explore the lives and influences of Glenn Curtiss, James Deering and George Merrick.
The aesthetic vision and architectural influences of these early developers still can be seen today throughout Miami, from Opa-locka to Biscayne Bay. Representatives from the Curtiss Mansion, Vizcaya and Coral Gables Historical Resources will discuss their historic buildings and the visions of their founders as well as take part in a panel discussion.
Have some burning questions about why James Deering named his winter home Vizcaya — or maybe why the streets of Coral Gables are named the way they are? Now is your chance to ask. Audience questions will be encouraged at the end of the program.
A reception is scheduled for 6:30-7 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. Lecture is 7-8 p.m.
