Moss Construction recently broke ground on a $35 million contract to build the Brickell World Plaza, Phase 2 expansion as part of a multi-phase project located on the 600 block of Brickell Ave.

Developed by Elm Spring, the Brickell World Plaza Phase 2 project will provide a much-needed parking resource for residents, local business employees and visitors to the ever-evolving downtown Brickell landscape.

“Miami has always been the gateway to the America’s, and its continued growth has made it a sought after financial center,” said Scott Moss, president of Moss. “The Moss team has seen firsthand and helped execute the evolution of Brickell Avenue to what this prime area has become today. We are thrilled that Elm Spring has entrusted us to build Brickell World Plaza’s latest addition.”

Designed by HOK, the project consists of a 12-story above grade parking garage and one below grade basement level valet garage. Built adjacent to the existing 600 Brickell World Plaza Tower, the two structures will connect at basement level under the existing active private drive. The 13-level garage structure will contain approximately 478 parking spaces located between the basement and 11th levels.

The structure also will contain a tenant restaurant space on the first level which will be leased and built concurrently with the garage structure. In addition to the tenant space on the first level, there will be rental retail spaces available for fit out on the 1B (Mezzanine) level.

The exterior cladding system for the garage will consist of precast architectural concrete panels and undulating perforated metal panels all of which will be backlit by color changing LED lights. A plaza space will be constructed on the remaining site area, containing both green and hardscape spaces.

“Working with the Moss team has been a pleasure,” said Tracy Story Goodson, director of management and leasing for Elm Spring. “We’re looking forward to the additional restaurant space and increased outdoor event area this project will bring to Brickell.”

The project is scheduled for completion in late 2019.
