The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women has elected its officers for the 2018-2019 term.

Sharon Kendrick-Johnson was elected chair. Kendrick-Johnson resides in South Miami and is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator. She also is the founder and president of the Pumps, Pearls, and Portfolios non-profit that helps low income women and their families.

Monica Interian, from Pinecrest, was elected first vice chair. Interian is a Licensed Advanced Nurse Practitioner and has experience in hospital management and medical sales.

Linda Robinson was elected second vice chair. Robinson was instrumental in the incorporation of Palmetto Bay and was then elected its first vice mayor. She has been an active real estate broker since 1974 and is now with Keller Williams Realty.

Noreen Legault Mendoza was elected member at large. Legault Mendoza grew up in the Westwood Lakes area and now lives in the Redland in South Miami-Dade. She is the STEAM and Informal Education Coordinator for the City of Miami and promotes the importance of technical and scientific curiosity for people of all ages, but especially for women and girls.

Raisa Sequeira also was elected member at large. Sequeira, a Hialeah native, currently is pursuing her Master of Science in Education at the Community and Social Justice Program at the University of Miami where she is a Graduate Student Association senator on the Civic Engagement Committee.

Marie Paule Woodson is the Immediate past chair and will continue to serve on the Executive Committee. A retired Miami-Dade County administrator and a passionate advocate for women and families, she was the Commission for Women’s first Haitian American chair.

The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women was created in 1971 as an advisory board to the county commission, county administration and the public at large about issues pertaining to the status of women. The Commission for Women also advocates for women in the community and strives to improve their quality of life.
