The Miami Children’s Chorus announces the opening of its 2019 audition season. Children ages 8-18 are invited to join the prestigious performance group to add their voice to the MCC 2019-2020 season.
The Miami Children’s Chorus offers the opportunity for children to take part in a choral education and performance program of the highest caliber. In the program, students collaborate with world-class artists and professional musicians and perform in Miami’s premier performance venues. With MCC, children ages 8-18, receive a quality choral music instruction, with a foundation of healthy vocal technique and solid musicianship skill. Children also become part of larger body of like-minded individuals who experience and understand the value of a sustained and dedicated effort.
MCC has prepared children to appear and record with a wide variety of artists. They have sung with the Cleveland Orchestra; the Israel Chamber Orchestra; at the 44th NFL Super Bowl; for PBS with André Rieu and Ethan Bortnick; with Gloria Estefan, Nestor Torres and Raul Di Blasio. In its history MCC has performed in over ten countries – The United States, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Austria, the Czech Republic, Canada, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, and will travel to Australia this summer. In addition to producing professional youth choral concerts for over five decades, MCC has proven to be a positive musical resource to the community through its many successful community projects.
To join the Miami Children’s Chorus, children between the ages of 8-18 must complete a live audition, which helps identify each child’s musical capacity and current abilities. The audition helps determine which MCC ensemble is the best fit for each child. Children who enroll in the MCC meet weekly in rehearsals from August to May where they learn the necessary skills to be practicing and professional musicians. These skills include breathing for singing and age-appropriate tone production, musicianship skills, and stage presence. Children also explore a wide range of musical styles and languages. Performances are conducted throughout the year so that the children have an opportunity to demonstrate their continuing growth and development.
The Miami Children’s Chorus has touched the lives of thousands of children and families throughout its long history, and they look forward to continuing their work with South Florida youth for many years to come. Visit www.miamichildrenschorus.org to submit your audition application today!
